" When people tell us something can't be done, they don't mean we can't do it. They actually mean THEY can't do it." --- Written in 2008 by Pete W. Zafra --- California
I love this. Ed sent me this great quote.

As most of you know, I love to participate in skeet shooting. A recent article in our Skeet Shooting Review by one of the top shooters, Todd Bender, discusses desire. His comments apply to the sport I love, but they also apply to all aspects of my life.
Todd discusses the sacrifices the great shooters have made over the years. They have given up many things to pursue their goal. “Their drive and desire, their will, carried them from the start, through good performances, and the bad, over many years, to where they are today.” This comment touched me because when I have a bad tournament, my immediate reaction is to quit. I ask myself why I would continue to practice and work so hard to show up at a tournament and not perform well. I am so frustrated with myself and whatever I blame for my bad performance, that I consider quitting. Luckily, that only lasts a few minutes before I get over being hurt and embarrassed and know I am going to practice even harder because next time I am going to be awesome.
“We all have a great amount of potential- some more than others do. But the one ingredient that dictates the level of greatness that one achieves is desire.” Todd makes a great point of how many outcomes whether in sports or life is decided not by who is the best but by who wants it more.
“The benefits of dedication are not limited to those few who reach the top of the mountain in their chosen field. No, dedication showers rewards at all levels. True rewards are not generated from the outside, but rather from within.” He continues that true champions know what they have achieved and that is what is important.
“Essentially, desire is up to you. You just have to look within to find it.”
“The influence of desire affects our business, our relationships, and every aspect of our daily personal lives. Your return on investment in all areas of sport and life are directly related to the amount of energy that you, and only you, put forth into that particular endeavor.”
“You get back exactly what you put in. It’s your choice."
I found this article to be very powerful. I hope you do also.

The happiness of a man in this life does not consist in the absence but in the mastery of his passions. - Alfred Lord Tennyson
I was asked in a recent interview “what are you passionate about?” I tried to narrow it down but I am passionate about a lot of things. I got to thinking about it and realized how much fun I have every day because I am so passionate about most everything I do. I really hope you are passionate about what you do.

Remember that it is not important what happens to you. It is important how you react. Think about people you know with severe illnesses or handicaps that get up and appreciate life and have a great day. If they can have a great day, maybe you can also.

“Success is decided on and then achieved.
Success is not an accident, it is created!”
Rules of Success by Grant Cardone
This reminds me of Stephen Covey’s first habit in his seven habits book. The habit is be proactive. We have to take responsibility for our lives. We can act or be acted upon. It is a great idea to look at the outside conditions. Analyze what is happening in our market and our lives. Use this information to determine what you can do to be successful given the conditions. Decide on a plan for success. Maybe that means stepping back from what you have been doing and finding a different way to achieve success. Then act on it.

I don't think anything is unrealistic if you believe you can do it. I think if you are determined enough and willing to pay the price, you can get it done. - -- Mike Ditka
I know you have all heard the stories of people from very humble beginnings achieving seemingly impossible tasks. There are many stories from our recent Olympics. If you have a real desire to accomplish something, you will achieve it if you feel it is worth paying the price to get it.

We should be taught not to wait for inspiration to start a thing. Action always generates inspiration. Inspiration seldom generates action. - Frank Tibolt
It is always hard to get into a project. I always find if I just get out my paper and pen and whatever is necessary to complete the project and begin, I find it wasn’t that difficult to accomplish after all. What is difficult is getting started.
Take some action and begin. Whether it is planning your day, setting your goals, making your calls, reading something, working on your budget or planning how to run a profitable business. Just do it.

The best way to escape from a problem is to solve it. - Alan Saporta
I know this is easier said than done, but many people will work around a problem for years hoping it will eventually go away. Right now many of you are hoping the real estate market will change, the credit situation will change, or maybe that a buyer will walk in our door. We can’t assume any of those are going to happen so we need to work every day to get our problems solved.
Maybe that means lowering some of your personal or business expenditures or look for different and new revenue streams. Maybe we find a way to help the homeowners and potential buyers that are behind on their mortgages or need to sell their home. Maybe we learn more about the credit situation and find a way to make it profitable for us. We also might make more calls every day and touch more people looking for a referral.
Sticking our heads in the sand and hoping the problem goes away isn’t going to work. We have to step back and look for solutions and implement them every day.

“Just show up!
Ninety percent of all success is created by just showing up.
Successful people show up expecting success.
Show up fully and success will follow!”
Rules of Success by Grant Cardone
This is an appropriate day to discuss this idea since tropical storm Fay is sitting off our coast and it is easy to find reasons to not show up. There are so many things in our life that seem like great reasons not to accomplish our goals for the day. I am not being critical of the decisions you make about your safety, I am just pointing out that there are so many excuses in life of why we didn’t make our calls, we didn’t write our notes or deliver our pop bys. We didn’t eat right. We didn’t work out.
Many times we achieve success just because we were there.

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit”. Aristotle
If you were to interview most of the successful people in the world, you would find one trait in common. They have created habits of the things they do that make them successful.
If you want to get healthy, you must form good eating habits and good exercise habits. With exercise, you don’t have to do a lot. It doesn’t have to be difficult; you just have to do it consistently.
If you want to have a successful business, you must do the things every day that will make you successful. You know the few things you must do every day to be successful, but are they habits with you that get done consistently?

“Success comes fastest to those that operate at 100%.
Most never hit it big because they play not to lose, rather than play to win.
Never be conservative! Go at success like you are immortal!
Fred Funk won a golf tournament this weekend. He is a local favorite and a great guy. His caddy said to him on one of the first holes to play as if he was 4 strokes behind even though he was leading the tournament on the last day. The reason was he didn’t want to be protecting his lead. He aggressively went after every green and played to get ahead rather than playing conservatively to hold on to his lead.
I learned this same concept shooting skeet. If I was ever shooting well and tried to hang on to my good score, I became tentative and started missing targets instead of going after them aggressively.
Operate at 100% and win!!!!

The morer you learn the more you earn! Successful people are seekers of Knowledge and Know-How" Knowing is the highest state of being-ness! from Rules of Success by Grant Cardone. I just learned something from a great book by Jeffrey Gitomer, Customer Satisfaction is Worthless - Customer Loyalty is Priceless. His point in the book is that everyone worries about customer satisfaction which means you were ok but the customer may or may not come back to you. If you can create a loyal customer, you have met or exceeded their needs and they will proactively refer customers to you. Let's work on this together. Ask any of your loyal customers what makes them stay with you so you can understand what makes a customer loyal. Think about the companies and suppliers you are loyal to and write down what makes you that way. We will put our ideas together tomorrow at the sales meeting and see if we can come up with ways to make Davidson Realty customers loyal. Have a great day. Sherry Stress is an ignorant state. It believes that everything is an emergency. Nothing is that important. - Natalie Goldberg Stress can have you running around in all directions and accomplishing nothing. Interruptions happen all day that seem urgent, but are they really important? Plan your day and work your plan. If you don't have a plan for the day, at the end of the day you will wonder what you accomplished.
Remember the four quadrants of time management from Stephen Covey. Spend your time on the important matters that are urgent or better yet the important matters that are not urgent. Don't spend your time on the unimportant matters that seem urgent.
Have a great day!!!

Failure will never overtake me if my determination to succeed is strong enough. - Og Mandino
Your jobs have been tough for over a year now. This can seem like the darkest time. You get tired, discouraged and you are out of money. Many people in the real estate industry will quit. They have held on a long time and they become disillusioned. But not you. This is when we will win!!!! We will keep doing the things every day that will make us succeed. We will keep improving our Company and ourselves and we will have the determination to succeed. We will win because when others quit, we keep fighting. A perfect example of this is my husband and the World Golf Village. For years, many people told him he would never pull everything together. They told him it was too far away. He didn't own all the property. There were too many obstacles. We got delayed for months at a time. We even got fired twice. He never faltered no matter what others thought or said. He got up every day and did what it takes to make his dream come true and look at World Golf Village now. What if he had gotten discouraged when we were out of money and everything was going wrong? Today is the day you can make your dreams come true. If you need some help or encouragement, just ask. Have a great day!!! Sherry
One of the great ideas I have received is to send out daily inspirational messages. I come across lots of things I would like to share so starting today, I will send them out and hopefully they will be helpful to you.
“It’s human nature for people to take precisely as much interest in you as they believe you are taking in them. There is no stronger way to build relationships than taking a genuine interest in other human beings and allowing them to share their stories.” Danny Meyer, Setting the Table
“People give orders to a salesperson, but they form partnerships and grow business with people they have relationships with.” Your Business Brickyard
Don’t let your best customers get lost in your data base. Take care of the customers that are loyal to you.
