Sundaes in The Neighborhoods tour raising funds for area charity

St. Augustine, Fla. (Sept. 22, 2008) – As part of its Sundaes in The Neighborhoods home tour currently underway, The Neighborhoods of World Golf Village hosted an afternoon of fun activities for teens from TLC2 (Teens Learning Character/Teens Leading through Choices,) which was selected as the charitable recipient for the event.

The teens – participants in TLC2’s TRU-IMPACT (Teens Really Understanding the Importance of Making Positive, Active Choices Today) program at the Youth Crisis Center – were treated to an afternoon at World Golf Village complete with a film at the World Golf Hall of Fame IMAX Theater and rounds on the putting course provided by the World Golf Hall of Fame and a “Make Your Own Ice Cream Sundae” party compliments of Murray Bros. Caddyshack. WJXT’s Melanie Lawson also participated in the afternoon’s activities as an added bonus.

“This event was so special for these kids. Most of them had never been to an IMAX film before, so that was quite an experience for them,” said Georgia Park, executive director of TLC2. “They also had a great time on the putting course and visiting Caddyshack was a treat in itself. They also thought it was cool to hang out with an area celebrity. The opportunity to make and enjoy ice cream sundaes was the perfect ending to a delightful day.”

Scheduled for every Sunday in September from 12-4 p.m., the free Sundaes in The Neighborhoods event features tours of four homes and complimentary ice cream sundaes provided by Caddyshack. As the result of a contest sponsored by The Neighborhoods of World Golf Village, four sundaes will be featured each week on the tour, including the $1,000 grand prize winner, which will be announced live on WJXT TV 4 on Sept. 23.

The winning sundae will be served at Caddyshack throughout October with a portion of the proceeds benefiting TLC2; The Neighborhoods of World Golf Village is also donating $1 to the organization for each home toured during the event (up to $1,000).

TLC2 promotes leadership and character development to school-age students through interactive programming, teaching and positive role-modeling. “This is a great organization that is really impacting our area teens and I am so pleased that we selected them as our beneficiary,” said Sherry Davidson, president of Davidson Realty, Inc., marketers of The Neighborhoods of World Golf Village. “This ice cream party gave us a wonderful opportunity to meet and spend time with these special kids. I encourage everyone to come out to the tour and support this worthwhile charity.”

Sponsors for the event include The Neighborhoods of World Golf Village, Davidson Realty, WJXT Channel 4 and Murray Bros. Caddyshack. The following homes (all located at the King & Bear) are featured on the tour: The Atlantis by CornerStone Homes, 5208 Comfort Court in the GroveWood neighborhood; The Hawthorne by Providence Homes, 4910 Boat Landing Dr. in the GroveWood neighborhood; The Pebble Beach by Bateman & Martin Developments, Inc., 100 Laterra Links Circle, #201 in Laterra Links; and The Madeira by Stonecraft Fine Homes, 2645 Oakgrove Ave. in the Windmill Estates neighborhood.
