Davidson Realty hosting blood drive to assist with area-wide shortages
Critical shortages after holidays cause donor demand St. Augustine, Fla. (Jan. 22, 2008) – In response to recent reports on area blood bank shortages, Davidson Realty is doing its part to help area residents in danger of dying without lifesaving blood transfusions. The company and the Florida-Georgia Blood Alliance will host a blood drive on Feb. 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Davidson’s headquarters, located at 100 E. Town Place at the entrance of World Golf Village.
According to Blood Alliance representatives, every eight minutes someone in the Jacksonville area uses blood. The need is always greater after the holidays because of increased demand and a decrease in donations at this time of year.
The simple donation process takes around an hour, including screening, while the actual act of drawing blood is only a 10-minute process. Each donation can save the lives of up to three individuals.
“You never know when you or someone you love will need a donation, so we feel that this is a very important community service,” said Sherry Davidson, president of Davidson Realty, Inc. “We encourage all of our residents and neighbors to support this effort, which can literally mean the difference between life and death for someone in need.”
