one of area’s “best places to work”

Company ranks third in JBJ awards program

St. Augustine, Fla. (May 6, 2008) – The third time is apparently still the charm. For the third consecutive year, The Davidson Companies – Davidson Development, Inc., Davidson Realty, Inc. and Davidson Property Management, Inc. – were honored as one of Northeast Florida’s Best Places to Work by the Jacksonville Business Journal. Davidson ranked third in the small business category in the publication’s annual awards program, up from fourth place last year.   

Company representatives were recently honored at the publication’s third annual Best Places to Work event.  Established in 1989 under the leadership of Davidson Development president Jim Davidson and Davidson Realty president Sherry Davidson, the company has 24 employees and 23 independent real estate agents.   

“Our outstanding agents and employees are truly our greatest asset. They are extremely vital to the success of our organization and we value their suggestions and active participation in making our company a great place to work,” said Sherry Davidson. “We meet with them on a quarterly basis for feedback and I think this has greatly contributed to our workplace environment. I give all the credit to them.”

The award is employee-nominated and requires that a certain percentage of employees participate in a survey on the workplace environment. Cindy Hall, the company’s accounting and human resources manager, nominated The Davidson Companies, citing the company’s monthly employee celebrations, exceptional benefits program, sense of caring and the fact that the Davidsons actively seek input from company associates.

The monthly gatherings, known as “fireside chats,” are held in the company’s new headquarters, which features a large courtyard with an outdoor fireplace. Employees and agents enjoy hors d’oeuvres, wine and have an opportunity to celebrate both personal and professional achievements.

“Jim and Sherry set the tone for the entire company. Everyone who works here knows that they are more than mere employees. They’re adopted into the Davidson family,” said Hall. “There is genuine warmth and a camaraderie that we all share. It is one of the company’s hallmarks and one of the things that makes our company the greatest.”
