ELECTRICITY
Florida Power and Light - A deposit is required prior to beginning of service and is usually equal to twice your projected monthly bill. Monthly bills and deposits may be paid at Professional Associates Services, 3149 N. Ponce de Leon Blvd. #9, St. Augustine. You should allow a waiting period of two days after application is made for connection to a location already served by the power company, and up to six weeks if establishing a new connection. NATURAL GAS
People's Gas - World Golf Village is a planned gas community. TECO Peoples Gas, Florida's largest natural gas supplier, is the provider for WGV.

GARBAGE PICK-UP
Seaboard Waste - Residents of WGV can expect garbage and yard clipping pick-up on Monday and recyclables on Tuesday. Your service fees are covered in your county tax. To set up your service call 904-825-0991, 445A International Golf Parkway, St. Augustine.
WATER AND SEWER ST. JOHNS COUNTY UTILITY DEPARTMENT
Water and sewer service is provided by the county and you can set up your account by calling 904-471-2161 or visiting the office at 2175 Mizell Road, St. Augustine Beach. Expect a $100 deposit.
EMERGENCY SERVICES
St. Johns County has a computerized emergency 911 system. Whether it is fire, police or rescue service you need, just dial 911 for immediate help. The St. Johns County Rescue Service with its team of paramedics is rated among the best in Florida. Specially equipped vehicles allow communication of life-saving information while a patient is being transported to a hospital. Emergency medical helicopter flight service is available to transport critical patients to an area medical facility.
In a non-emergency situation call the St. Johns County Sheriffs Office at 904-824-8304. Fire Station #17 is only 7 miles away and can be contacted directly by calling 904-823-2526.
WGV SECURITY
Yarbourgh Security is on constant 24-hour patrol for the safety of WGV residents. They are also equipped to assist the residents with flat tires or first aid. They are just a phone call away at 904-940-1255.

VEHICLE REGISTRATION
New resident must register all owned motor vehicles immediately upon making residence in St. Johns County. Minimum cost of registration, based on the weight of your vehicle, is $26.60, $34.60, or $44.60. Application for a title is $29.95, and for out-of-state financing arrangements, proof of Florida personal injury protection insurance (minimum $10,000 each) and property damage liability, and the vehicle itself. Each person listed on the title must be present with picture identification (a Power of Attorney to sign for persons unable to be present are required). Other charges include initial Registration Fee ($100) & $10.00 plate fee. Florida registration may be obtained through any office of the St. Johns County Tax Collector's Office. DRIVER'S LICENSES
New residents must obtain a Florida driver's license within 30 day after accepting employment in Florida, enrolling children in a Florida public school or applying for the Florida Homestead Exemption provision. Persons with valid out-of-state licenses are required to take a vision test, a written test and driving test. New drivers and those expired permits must also take these tests, A handbook of Florida driving law is available free at the examination office. New residents much present two pieces of valid identification, one of which may be an out-of-state license. The examination is administered at the St Johns County Tax Collector's Office, 4030 Lewis Speedway. Hours are 8:30 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Thursday, and until 6 PM on Friday.
HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION
Florida homeowners are entitled to an ad valorem tax exemption of the first $25,000 of assigned valuation if they owned and occupied the home as of December 31st of the prior year.
To apply for this exemption, the owner must present a copy of his/her warranty deed, a Florida drivers license, Florida voter registration, vehicle registration with Florida tags and the social security numbers of each name listed on the deed to the Property Appraiser's office, 4030 Lewis Speedway, St. Augustine. Qualifying dates are January 1 to March 1 of the first year for which the exemption is sought. The exemption may be renewed by mail for subsequent years if the owners still qualifies for it. An additional exemption is available to widows and totally, permanently disabled persons. For details call the Property Appraiser's office at 904-827-5560.
TAXES
Florida does not impose a personal income tax. Occupational license fees are collected from most business occupations, professionals and other types of enterprises. Appropriate licenses maybe obtained from the St. Johns County Tax Collector's Office. Call 904-823-2250 for more information. In addition to the county tax structure, each municipality may also levy taxes and require occupational fees and licenses. The Florida Sales Tax (6) percent. St. Johns County levies a gasoline sales tax to maintain roads and bridges.
VOTING
Florida residents must be at least 18 years of age in order to register to vote in local, state and national elections in St. Johns County. Absence of felony record also applies. New residents may register to vote at least 30 days prior to an election. To receive a voter registration card or change your address, complete an application available at the Supervisor of Elections Office located at 3355 Avenue A, or at the Tax Collector's Office, public library or any bank.
